2014年施政報告指明由安老事務委員會籌劃一個安老服務方案，今年10月17日起兩個月內全港18區會有18場公眾論壇，集結成未來安老服務的內容。
早前，安老事務委員會一份報告指長者偏好「居家安老」，但一位剛剛喪父的女兒說，爸爸最大心願是在家安詳去世，無奈香港法律不容許：「如果連選擇在哪裡死去的基本人權也沒有，請不要跟我說什麼居家安老﹗」
